The Widetrack Chronicles 60: Progress Report
Fall 2019 is here... Wow, this year has flown by...
All the same, it’s a really cool new thing to have marked it by way of these monthly songs that will comprise our fourth album...
Really gotta give it up for my main man Zach for his thriving perseverance throughout this process... He’s really kept all the irons in his busy life’s fire going...
Down to these last 3 of the 12 songs, I must admit that we’re both chomping at the bit to get out there and play this stuff in a live setting... Particularly in light of the fact that, even though we've already racked up a couple years' worth of gigs with our cover band, The Vintage, we've ironically played only one actual full Widetrack show so far...But, unlike in the past when we were at the mercy of being able to hire other musicians in order to perform all the recorded parts of our songs onstage, we’re determined to find a way to get out there and play these songs as much as possible in 2020... even if it’s just the two of us presenting this present version of Widetrack in whatever workable configuration we can come up with...
And so, just this past Sunday, we began rehearsing a set of our current favorite Widetrack tunes with just the two of us, to see if we could even consider that as an option...
Being that it was the first time we’ve played these songs together since we began recording them in January, it was a bit rough around the edges... a lot to remember! lol
But the energy was definitely there... We'd almost forgotten what a blast these tunes are to play... It really lit our fire to get the live side of the band together!!
So now we know we can play in just about any situation,
from one to five band members... Whatever the situation might call for/allow...
Absolutely, it will be great to do shows with four to five players,
as we did at Billy's last March, but getting all the planets aligned may not always be an option... So, it's good to be able to employ some of our favorite wisdom:
In the meantime, there's the matter of actually getting the new album packaged and released…
